At Briscoe Group we pride ourselves on being a responsible and socially aware corporate citizen.

Briscoe Group actively supports a wide variety of local community based charities, sports clubs and other initiatives by donating product to support fundraising efforts and provides scholarships to eligible selected Briscoe Group employees or their children through the Briscoe Group Education Foundation that it operates in conjunction with the RA Duke Trust.

Former Executive Alaister Wall manages Briscoe Group’s community support initiatives and has been a director of Cure Kids since 2008. Support is also provided from throughout the Group and from Group suppliers and other parties we work with.

Briscoe Group Education Foundation

As part of the 150 year celebrations and to recognise that every great organisation is dependent on its great people, Briscoe Group has established an Education Foundation to provide scholarships to eligible selected Briscoe Group employees or their children. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage tertiary level study predominantly in New Zealand among deserving employees of the Company or their children, in a field that is important or complementary to a core function of the Group’s business.

Cure Kids

“We are very proud to work with such a worthy organisation as Cure Kids. Our management and staff have fully embraced Cure Kids in every possible way.

“It is so rewarding to know that we are helping to contribute to leading edge research to help find cures for life threatening illnesses for Kiwi kids and give them a better quality of life.”
– Alaister Wall, Former Executive

Briscoe Group has been a Key Partner of Cure Kids since 2004, was a foundation partner of the “Add a Dollar to Cure Kids” campaign and enters teams in the “Accor Hotels $10 Queenstown Challenge to Cure Kids” and the “Great Adventure Race to Cure Kids”.

Since the partnership began, Briscoe Group has raised $7.8 million for Cure Kids over the past 16 years, including by way of the annual Briscoe’s Golf Days.

“At Cure Kids our purpose is simple. Every single day, our researchers are driven to find cures for life-threatening illnesses that affect many of our children. We focus on raising funds so that vital medical research can continue until our researchers find the cures our kids need.

“Put simply, we fund the cures, they find the cures.”
– Ed Mitchell, Chair of Child Health Cure Kids

Approximately one child in 30 is affected by a genetic malformation; that’s an average of one in every classroom.

Among other things, Cure Kids is searching for cures for childhood leukaemia and other cancers, heart diseases, cystic fibrosis, Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) and asthma. These conditions and diseases mean children are often denied a normal childhood and have to learn far too early in life how to fight to survive.

Discovering cures could never be described as simple or swift, which is why Cure Kids funds world-class senior research positions – known as Professorial Chairs – in perpetuity. While there are many more years of work ahead, Cure Kids has made some magnificent discoveries along the way. These discoveries have already made a substantial difference to the lives our children lead.
